REPAIRS
Most people don’t like malfunctioning hardware as it causes standstill and unpredictable situations. But Nerd Alert loves them, we get excited if a faulthy piece of electronic comes in. Repair is not just replacing a component, it also comes to identifying why it failed and what can be done to prevent this in the future.

Revision
As electronics are getting older it may become dirty, it becomes less accurate, buttons have to be pushed harder you name it.

About Us
Nerd Alert is a small company in the Netherlands started in 2021. All the (proffesional) equipment needed is available in the workshop located near our house. Nerd Alert doesn’t have a visiting address as we mainly work on site or in our workshop. Feel free to ask anything, preferably by E-mail. Due to lack of technical personel and the amount of work it’s quite busy, but we’ll do our best to respond on a short term.

Projects
In the last years we are very gratefull to our customers who gave Nerd Alert some challenging projects. Let’s pick one:
- Rollercoaster in a Theme Park in the Netherlands. The PLC’s responsible for operation started to cause troubles and a solution was needed quickly. Nerd Alert was the 4th company who was asked for a solution. (the 3 companies before us advised replacement of all PLC’s wich cost a fortune and new inspections/certifications). This rollercoaster is about 25 years old, no documentation, no software backups etc. First things first! We needed the software from the existing PLC’s and make backups of this software, that wasn’t easy due to the age of this hardware. We had succes making backups of the software so we could start with the full revision. The were 3 electrical cabinets with the PLC’s, power supply’s, relays etc. troughout the years these cabinets were a mess, wires everywere and no clarification.Long story short, these cabinets got completly stripped, cleaned and rebuild. All relays got replaced, every wire is replaced with new colors and coding. The PLC’s and all of the modules have been cleaned and the faulthy components replaced with fresh new ones. We also made a fresh spare part for every module in this rollercoaster. No matter wich PLC or it modules fails, it can be replaced instantly with a spare part already available on site. Another important thing was to document everything like electrical scheme’s, manuals, software comments etc. The customer asked us if we could make some changes and improvends in the software of the PLC’s. One of things they would like to have was automatic brake testing and monitoring of the sensors and errors. In cooperation with the inspection services these changes were made succesfully. Fun fact: before we started one of the PLC’s had 900 lines of code, after all the improvements it has now 1703 lines of code.
